Bawean (Sweetheart) Bakery in Jalan Riau, Bandung

Toko Kue Bawean (Bawean Bakery) was established in 1946 and its name was Sweetheart Bakery until they changed their name during the New Order regime. The new name is taken from the shop location in Jalan Bawean.

Their specialties are all kind of cake that are baked using rum, like nougat rolls, brownies, and so on. By using this alcoholic ingredient, their cakes taste a bit bitter and can be kept until 6 days.

In the dutch colonial era, this restaurant was known as Maison Bogerijn. It was established in 1921 by the family of Bogerijn and became a very famous restaurant at that time. Today the original building is no longer there but you can still find some dining tables with umbrellas in their terrace, which will give you an atmosphere of a European Cafe. 

They serve Indonesian as well as western and chinese food, such as beef steak, soup, salad, and crab fried rice. For the dessert, try panekoek or pancake.

Kartika Sari was founded in 1974 by Mrs. Ratna Wati, a housewife that loved to bake any kind of cake in her spare time. Nowadays Kartika Sari has more than 4 branches in Bandung. One of their specialties is pisang molen, some kind of munchies originally from Holland.

One of their biggest and newest branch is the one in Jalan Dago.
